Dear Ellen,

Whelp, Ellen, I came to a very sad realization today. It may be a while before I will make it to your show.

I hinted to my mother-in-law today (while watching your show), that going to your show would be THE ultimate birthday gift! My birthday is June 7 AND my family and I are traveling to California this summer in July. What better time to come!?!?

After I hinted to Valerie (MIL) I texted the hubby two things: 1) the classic joke of the day...it is Wednesday you know! 2) that I should go to the Ellen show for my birthday! He didn't reply :(

When hubs got home from work we were eating dinner and I brought it up again. That guys sure can put a damper on my dreams! He said we would only be in Cali for 4 whole days (not including travel days) and we would be four hours away (we are visiting family in San Luis Obispo) and it just wasn't very likely that we could make it this year. I then reminded him that you have been doing the show for eleven years and that you might not do it forever so we have to act fast! (I then reminded him how I had missed two opportunities to fulfil lifelong dreams...going to see Bob Barker on The Price is Right and seeing Rosie O'Donnell when she had her show. I like to dream big!)

Sooooo...I guess I'm a little pouty about this. I realize I'm a grown woman and need to suck it up, but just know that someday I WILL see you in person and make it to the show. I'm already thinking of trendy outfits to wear when I get there ;)

Here are just some random thoughts about you and/or the show:

-I checked out your book "Seriously, Kidding" from the library. Ummm...I don't know how to put this gently...but just stick to TV. It has been hard for me to read because you write like you talk...a little all over the place. Not an entire negative comment, just my opinion. (Please don't hate me!)

-The teacher Kirby on your show today completely made my day! She was the cutest! And the whole proposal thing? Yup, I was crying and laughing at the same time.

-Kirby also inspired me to do big things for kids and community. I've been struggling lately with the decision to either continue to stay at home with my girls or go back to teaching. That little fourth grade boy who donated his target gift card to buy books for needy children made me miss being around kids full of heart.

-When I visit the show it would be icing on the cake if Twitch were your guest DJ!

-Also, I need to take some dance lessons for when I come so I can get down with my bad self ;)

-Confession: I typically fast forward through the musical guests. My attention span is tiny and watching music live often bores me. Whomp, whomp.

That's all for now...until next time...

Dear Ellen,

You rocked at the Oscars! It was less stuffy and way more fun than it has been in years!

The opening monologue, in my opinion, was hilarious! I loved the bit about JLaw and Liza. And you totally called Best Picture...guess the Academy didn't want to be seen as racists.

The pizza gig was perrrfect! (Or as you would say, purrrrfect) It was so refreshing to see the stars get giddy over pizza like us simple folk do! To see them eat it actually made them more likable and just like every day people you could approach on the street to ask what time it is :)

I'll be honest, you did have a few teeny tiny minor slip ups (nothing like John Travolta's...) and pahhhlease, stick with pant suits (the whole gaudy pink dress was so not you ;)

The selfie situation was simply genius. The whole time I was wondering if that was your real phone. Who cares...Samsung donating a dollar for every re-tweet is awesome.

Ellen, you did fabulous. I hope you partied your little butt off at the after-parties. Did you bear hug Liza Minnelli like she did Lupita? I bet y'all are BFFs ;)

You're real. You're fun. You're the bees knees.

Bravo!

An Open Letter to Ellen...

Dear Ellen,

I've decided to begin a new series on my blog called, "An Open Letter to Ellen". You know, to tell you all about what's going on in my life and let you know how much I love you and your show.

Why do this, you may ask? Well, because somedays it's just a tough job to be a mommy and have no outside life. This lil blog here is a great escape and form of therapy for me to just let it all out there. I don't want you to think I'm a creeper or that you are like a Jesus or idol figure to me, I just like that you make me smile. And on days when I've tried watching you and Leo five different times, unsuccessfully, a smile is what I need. :)

(Notice you and Leo above...did you know that I did a book report on a Leonardo DiCaprio biography when I was in sixth grade? I did! I wish I still had it, but my mom doesn't save stuff like that (kind of like how she gave all my Polly Pockets away...yup, still bitter). Also notice in the pic the messy house, Gatorade (we all just got over a stomach virus), and yes, my sweet Ellen friend, that silver trash looking thing is a sleeve of thin mint Girl Scout cookies. I started to just grab two out of the freezer, then thought, what the heck, I'll just eat the whole damn thing ;) Sippy cup and yellow chair are indicators of my sweet, although today-very gripey and super bossy, two year old daughter. Not that you can tell this by the picture, but I'm also holding our youngest lil one, a three month old baby girl in my arms. Seems like the sisters like to gang up on mom and cry simultaneously while Leo is on. Thank god for DVR :)

I realize today's letter was terribly underwhelming, but just you wait...I may have some 'Classic Joke Wednesdays' of my own someday down the line.

For now, I will say farewell, and until next time. For Pete's sake! Leo is on pause on my tv and I really want to watch this while both babes are sleeping!

Until next time,

Brandi
