Projects from last week.

Lately I haven't been too productive, but last week I was, just didn't blog about it. So here is a short recap:

I sent my sister, Stephanie, and friends little girl, Alena, homemade gifts. Alena's was for her birthday (the dollhouse here), but I have yet to post her card.

I really like how it turned out! Also, I had sent my sister a little piece of home since she was unable to make it to Midland because she was sick. I was inspired by my in-laws house, who are wonderful beyond description, and whose home Stephanie stays at when she is in town. I made her a comfy pillow and "house" card.

"home tweet home"

To go with her pillow-house I made tiny stuffed dolls resembling our entire family. I didn't upload any photos (sorry), but rest assured, they were cute and somewhat dopplegangers of us all!

Then, after much sewing, I needed something for myself. I started out making a cloth necklace, but just wasn't feeling it, so quickly adapted it into a headband! (Which works well since I'm more of a headband person anyway!)

Joseph took this picture of me in the car and I added the red tint with an app on my phone!
Whilst, after sewing and making a huge mess in my craft space (aka-formal dining room of my in-laws place), I moved my mess into the kitchen for our regular get-together with the fabulous Reynolds family.

First let me just tell you how great this family is. Chris, a great friend of many, many, many years, is the oldest Reynolds son, and one of our longest and dearest friends. He, Colby, and Jim can serenade anyone and do an awesome rendition of "Cattle Call". They make us feel so much at home and one of our "many moms", Crecia, can certainly cook up a homemade, Southern, delish meal! I have yet to steal any of her recipes, but she did say that next time we come over she will show me how to make one of my favorite dishes that she prepares! Wooohooo!!!

Anyway, since Crecia always does the cooking, and Jim supplies the booze (well, we do bring some) I decided to try my luck at a homemade apple pie.

And oh, how wonderful it was! Not to toot my own horn or anything (afterall, all I did was follow a simple recipe), I think it turned out superb! I know that all who tasted it enjoyed the crisp deliciousness, and so it served it's lovely purpose and will definitely be making a comeback soon! If anyone is interested in the recipe, just leave a comment and I'll dedicate an entire post just to that! (No surprise though, it did come from Country Living!)

I do have many more projects in line that need to be started soon:
  1. Begin composting for my spring batch of veggies!
  2. Sow my tiny seeds in their calcium enriched egg-shells and germinate them until they are ready for transplanting.
  3. Build an 8 foot x 4 foot garden box (Well, Joseph will have to help me with this one).
  4. Start constructing a birthday present for Chris, whose birthday is in ten days, inspired by his children's book(s) he is writing.
What kind of projects do you have lined up? Many happy crafting days to you and yours!

Oh, and MISD, please, please, please call me to sub soon! I'm getting bored sitting at home and desperately want to work. If you don't, then I guess I'll just have to find a new job soon.

Yours Truly,

Brandi
