My New "Job"

Whelp, guess what? I have a new "job". I say "job", with quotation marks, because it's not really a job at all. Or I don't think so. It pays really crappy, you never know when you're going to work, and there are absolutely zero benefits. Why do all of this you ask? Because this "job" can, and God-willing, will, lead to a real job! A teaching job!

Figure out what it is yet? Yep, you guessed it, a substitute teacher! I should be in a classroom and ready to sub by next Monday. Yikes! I did some observation hours yesterday and it was great to see all the tiny kiddos faces and the teachers that were making such a profound impact in their lives.

Here are some things I observed yesterday:
  1. Midland teachers are really good teachers. Really. All the classrooms I went to (a total of four in all), had great leaders and people who genuinely cared about their students. This is encouraging :)
  2. Little girls loooove Justin Beiber. I saw several little girls sporting their Justin Beiber t-shirts!
  3. While receiving instruction, a first-grade boy randomly got out of his seat and started doing push ups! Hilarious :)
  4. Two little girls, from different grades and at different schools, changed shoes. They went from their "high" heeled flip flops to flats for PE. Whoa, times have a changed people!
  5. Elementary classrooms are spectacular! I love all the color and pictures and doodles everywhere!
It felt great to be in a school. I know that for a while, until God plans otherwise, being a teacher is a great place for me. It is a perfect mix of crafting, being social (with students and teachers), making a difference, and let's be honest---getting to live out a childhood dream! (What little girl didn't play "school" growing up!)

I couldn't take pictures, nor would you want to see that, but I do have some cards to share that I'm sending to some of the teachers I observed. A homemade thank you, if you will!

Mrs. Tucker's class had a spectacular Word Wall that I am certainly going to implement into my own classroom! I wanted each card to reflect something individual about the classroom or lesson I observed.

Mrs. Drummond's class was learning about fractions, as you can see!

I think a nice homemade thank you card is always a special touch to let someone know you really appreciate them.

I do have two other cards to share with you, but those will have to wait until next week, seeing as how one is for my little sister (who reads this blog) and the other is for a friends little girl. I don't want to spoil their surprises!

Oh, and on a completely different subject, meet Maggie, our brother-in-law's new golden retriever puppy. She's so cute!

Until later, be blessed everyone!
