Crafting with Steph

When my sister is in town my life is just sooo much easier. For one thing, she usually does my laundry and helps with housework (thank you Stepho). Also, she is just way more fun than it being just me during the days when everyone else is at work. It's so fun. We can lay in bed and watch HGTV or the Glee reality show, we can go junk shopping or actual shopping (if we have monies), and she just spoils me when she is at home by helping me out because I'm preggers. I mean it people...she drives me places, lifts things for me, helps pick up doggie poo...she's just THAT great :)

And also when she is at home we love to pin on pinterest and attempt to make crafts. Usually I'm more creative than her (just saying), but occasionally she will out-craft me, as she did when we made these river stone abc rocks.

Her's were MUCH cuter, and she actually made the entire alphabet. If you have a picture Stephanie, email it to me so we can add it here!

I'm actually very sad right now because I just bought an amazingly cheap dresser from craigslist and I want her to help me redo it for Charley's room. Guess I'll have to suck it up and do it on my own though!

Anyway, I love you Stephanie Ann and you are the bestest seeeester any girl could ever ask for. You will make Charley Cate an amazing aunt and we are so blessed by having you in our lives.

a little shirt for laney bug!

As you can tell, I haven't blogged in a very, very long time. And since then, I've been hoarding photos that I want to include on my blog, so I'm sorry for all the "random" and un-chronological order of events in these past few posts.

Laney had her third birthday in May (see, way behind!) and I looove making gifts. It's just something my grandmother always shared with me (except sometimes hers were very sweet but not so practical---like the time she gave me and Joseph three boxes full of tiny newspaper houses.)

Anyway, I wanted to make something sweet for Laney but didn't have a lot of time. So off to Hobby Lobby I went to try and get creative on the spot. My solution: a t-shirt!

I feel like I could have done better, but given my time crunch and inability to plan ahead, this is what I created!

The birthday party was so fun and cute! We had a blast and while these aren't photos from the party, these are too adorable to not share!

a sweet gift for a wonderful friend

While many of you may think I have simply been sleeping my summer away (oh, wait...I HAVE been sleeping my summer away), I have been doing a small bit of crafting here and there when I have the energy.

For my friend Nicole's bridal shower I wanted to make her something extra special. I just met Nicole early this year and she is engaged to our long time friend, Spencer. I always hoped Spencer would pick someone good, but I never in a million years thought he would find someone as lovely as Nicole! She is so fun, and a lot like me too! She crafts! Is a teacher! A bit of a naive nerd (like me)! A dog lover! And basically just the sweetest person you will ever meet.

I opted for a homemade cookbook because when Spencer would stay the night with us while we were all in college, the boys would wake up and request that I make pancakes. The recipe is realllly simple and so delicious, and Spencer used to tell me they were his favorite pancakes. (But if he is a smart man he really should amend that statement and say that NICOLE'S pancakes are his favorite!!!) So thus began my idea for a cookbook.

Using my sewing machine, some photo's of Nicole and Spencer via Momma Donna all dressed up with Poladroid, some craft tape, fun abc stamps, and a little creativity, this is what I came up with:

obbbbbsessed with these tiny abc stamps! best 8 bucks i've ever spent

i sewed around the edges of the pages-a nice touch, don't you think?
